形態特徵

• Culms tall, stout, ca. 5 mm across, to 1 m tall.
• Blade linear-lanceolate, ca. 4 mm wide; ligule ca. 1 mm long, truncate and ciliate, hispid abaxially.
• Inflorescence of digitately arranged racemes. Spikelets paired, monomorphic; upper pedicellate, lower sessile, ca. 5.5 mm long. Lower glume subcoriaceous, lanceolate, as long as spikelet, sides inrolled, upper part 2-keeled, long hairy abaxially and margins, nerves inconspicuous; upper glume 3-nerved, lanceolate, sides inrolled, margins and apex fimbriate, sparingly hairy abaxially, as long as lower glume; lower lemma of nearly same texture and length as upper glume, linear-lanceolate; upper lemma membranaceous, linear, 2-cleft, fimbriate at apex, 1-nerved, ending in a flexuous awn of ca. 14 mm long; palea ca. 0.8 mm long, hyaline, upper margin fimbriate.
• Caryopsis cylindrical, ca. 2.5 mm long; embryo 1/2 its length of caryopsis.

分布

• 台灣 : on hillsides at low elevations. Its young is eaten by cattle but becomes unfavoritely coarse with age.
• 世界 : India, extending to Thailand, China, Korea and Japan.
